She describes Callahan as a place that caters to various demographics, from young families to retirees. Because of this, the town boasts a strong sense of community, with activities ranging from vendor markets and historical events to family-centered activities and senior programs.

“People are starting to catch onto the rural, homesteading lifestyle,” says Ralph Bennett, Broker with Pristine Properties of Florida. “They’re seeking a more country-like location to live, and, as a result, are moving to Callahan.”

“The low crime rate definitely is a perk of living here,” Fleming adds. “Especially for those of us with young families. Anyone you talk to will say they feel safe here.”
